October IPSY Glambag Review

Tuesday, November 5, 2019

Some IPSY month's have a general theme while other months there's a collab that calls for a more specific theme and those bags can be really cool! This month's bag was a Betty Boop inspired theme and I found it really cute (unlike the random Tetris one) because it's a theme that inspires a more sexy, badass vibe. As for the products, I got a good mix of items and got some great sizes too! And for once in a very long time, I liked very single product! Let's review...

  • BETTY BOOP™ X IPSY | That's So Betty Eyeshadow in Up Past Midnight

    • CLAIMS:  High quality, super blendable, and long-wearing—it’s everything we want in a shadow. Up Past Midnight is a silvery gray lavender that’s sure to turn heads.

    • MY REVIEW: I wasn't sure I'd like this shade because it appears to just be a black shimmer but upon swatching it, I was pleasantly surprised to see it has a purple tone to it! I love duochrome shadows and am a sucker for purple shades and hues. This shadow is very buttery and while it's not super pigmented it builds up easily.

  • MURAD | Clarifying Cleanser

    • CLAIMS: This cleanser's no joke—the powerful gel formula combats acne and skin breakouts. The 1.5% Encapsulated Salicylic Acid releases continually to fight acne for hours—even after rinsing it off. Made with green tea extract, this cleanser calms irritation for clearer, healthier-looking skin. It’s great for all skin types from oily and combination, to dry and sensitive.

    • MY REVIEW: I was excited to get this cleanser since I got a Murad moisturizer in last month's bag. I've always been curious about Murad and after trying both the moisturizer and cleanser, I have to say I find Murad products to be gentle but super effective. The cleanser was intimidating because a lot of gel cleansers can be drying and a bit too strong, which I've been experiencing way too much lately. But this cleanser works so well and actually leaves the skin a bit hydrated! My skin felt SO nice. A little goes a long way and the product smells really fresh. I also appreciate the large size I got! It will last a while, for sure.

  • KVOSSNYC | Raspberry Lip Treatment

    • CLAIMS: This luxe lippie has all the nourishing benefits of a lip balm with the shiny finish of a gloss. The intensely reparative formula works ASAP to soften rough, dry, chapped lips. A blend of sunflower seed oil, vitamin E, and shea butter help heal and hydrate your lips while strengthening their moisture barrier to prevent further damage. This treatment gives your lips a gorgeous subtle raspberry sheen.

    • MY REVIEW: I love receiving lip products and I don't think I've ever gotten a lip treatment so this was a fun surprise.  It's a pretty red pink color that easily glides on. A little goes a long way and it's not sticky at all. It feels very hydrating and immediately after removal, your lips feel much more moisturized!

  • CONTEXT SKIN | Matte Lipstick in Sweet Emotion

    • CLAIMS: CONTEXT’s products are packed with ingredients that get your skin beautiful from the inside out—and your lips are no exception. Vitamins C & E are rich in antioxidants that protect your lips from environmental damage.Sunflower Seed Oil helps your lips retain moisture to keep them hydrated and supple.Sodium Hyaluronate firms, smooths, and delivers moisture deep into your skin to give lips a pillowy texture and fuller appearance.Sweet Emotion is a matte-finish, brownish-nude lip color you’ll reach for in a pinch and wear literally anywhere. It contains vitamins C & E, which are rich in antioxidants that protect your lips from environmental damage.

    • MY REVIEW: I'm always excited for a new lip product as I mentioned earlier and I picked this one thanks to the new awesome option! But I am dissapointed in this lipstick because it claims to be matte and it is so creamy! I hate when I think I'm getting a matte product and end up with a cream because I only prefer mattes. If I knew it was creamy, I wouldn't have picked it. So many other reviews agree this product is anything but matte. I do love the shade. While it's not as orangy as it claims to be it is a flattery brown, nude shade! But I do hope picking future products isn't as frustrating because of the false claims! I still like this shade but again, won't be reaching for it much because of the formula.

  • PRETTY WOMAN | Nail Polish in Don't Be Jelly

    • CLAIMS: It’s long-wearing, crack and chip-resistant, so your mani will look good as new, even after a few days. This formula dries super fast (so drying time won’t slow you down). Don’t Be Jelly is a raspberry plum shade that feels *so* fall.

    • MY REVIEW: I own a lot of nail polishes and love painting my nails every week! This polish does dry quickly and looks so smooth and high quality! The shade isn't as dark as it seems online, sadly, it's a more brighter plum but if you layer it a few times you can definitely gets a deeper shade.
