April IPSY Glambag Review

Saturday, June 1, 2019

April's Glambag was super cute and had me very excited. I would say that only 1 or 2 out of every 5 glambags are cute for me, and the April one is super adorable! The products I got are also really good- all but one of the products were really great products. The product I was most hopeful for did disappoint but the one I was most doubtful of is now a HOLY GRAIL. Let's get started...

  • TARTE | Double Duty Beauty™ Base Tape Hydrating Primer

    • CLAIMS: This brand new primer does more than keep your makeup in place—it’s loaded with healthy ingredients, like jojoba and grapeseed extracts, to help keep your skin hydrated for 12 full hours. Coconut oil nourishes, smoothes, and moisturizes skin with a scent that’s fresh, light, slightly tropical, and not at all overpowering. It creates a thin barrier between your skin and makeup that prevents your skin’s oils from fading your foundation (which can make it look splotchy). The texture of this primer is light like a serum, so your skin soaks it right up.

    • MY REVIEW: HOLY SHIT. This is Amazing!!!! I wasn't sure how I would like this because I'm not super crazy about Tarte Shape Tape Concealer, It works but not the best for my under eyes or eyelids. But this primer is flipping amazing, ya'll! It's hydrating but not oily and does sink right into my skin. It leaves my skin soft and looking fresh! It also makes my makeup look the best I have ever seen it, no joke. When I use this primer, my makeup does not crease anywhere, at all, including my eye area which is magic! My skin looks so smooth, it's insane. I got a generous amount of this sample too but I can not wait to buy the full size and use it everyday. Obsessed.

  • NOMAD COSMETICS | Eyeshadow in Kreuzberg

    • CLAIMS: These buttery-soft formulas are pretty darn fine. The skin on your lids is thinner and more sensitive than other parts of your face. Because this baby is infused with hemp seed oil (rich in vitamins A, C, and E), it conditions, protects and moisturizes them.

    • MY REVIEW: I've recieved a few of Nomad's eyeshadows and have loved every single one. I love the shades I get- always flattering, shimmery shades (usually pastels like this one), and these shadows are very easy to use, blend, and highly pigmented! Always excited to get one!

  • DOUCCE | Punk Volumizer Mascara

    • CLAIMS: This lightweight mascara adds a hefty dose of volume, separation, and lift for a falsie effect.  The cool, high-tech wand has alternating short and long bristles that coat every last lash in color. The formula is creamy and layerable. We added on a couple of coats for extra drama and saw no clumps. The long-wearing formula won’t smudge or flake on you.

    • MY REVIEW: This mascara is really amazing! It does get every single lash and coats them very nicely- no clumpong and gives so much volume with just one coat! I love how natural lashes look as well even with tons of volume- there's no clumping at all. And lashes don't look stiff or heavy. I really love the formula. My only complaint- the brush is HUGE. I kept making a mess and scared of poking my eye!

  • THEBALM COSMETICS | theBalmJour Creamy Lip Stain in Konnichiwa!

    • CLAIMS: This unique formula starts off as a gloss, dries to a stain, and delivers the color payoff of a highly-pigmented lipstick. Coat them with this stain/gloss hybrid and they'll be soft and hydrated for hours. It's long-lasting, so you won't need to keep reapplying it—a plus when you're on-the-go. Konnichiwa! is a warm, peachy terracota shade that flatters so many skin tones.

    • MY REVIEW: I'm so glad I got this shade because it's a nice pink nude for me- I'm picky about my pinks. I don't usually like anything but a matte or velvet lip product- I don't use glosses very often or anything creamy because I hate feeling anything sticky or oily on my lips but this lip stain feels more like a subtle chapstick and it very hydrating. It does dry down a bit but I could still feel a chapstick sort of feeling on my lips all day. Again, nothing too heavy though and my lips did look natural and hydrated!

  • APTO SKINCARE | Nourishing Mask with Blue Spirulina

    • CLAIMS: This mask is super hydrating, so it immediately quenches your skin with a dose of moisture. The formula is packed with blue spirulina, an algae that protects your skin and helps fight damaging free radicals. It’s also spiked with squalane, known for improving elasticity (so your skin will look ultra refreshed).

    • MY REVIEW: I was SO excited to try this because the last APTO face mask I got- the turmeric one- is a holy grail but this one was such a disappointment! Applying it was easy- it's thin so applies easily but taking it off was a nightmare. It would not come off. It was like slime or sap on my skin. I had to scrub the crap out of my face to get it off which was no fun. I only tried it once because I'm genuinely afraid to deal with that again!
