This months' read was Cold Feet, written by Amy FitzHenry. This novel is about a young woman, Emma, who a week away from her wedding is having doubts. Aside from her mother unable to be at her rehearsal dinner, Emma's other problems include not ever knowing her dad (who left when she was 6 months old) and questioning if her soon to be husband has always been faithful. All of these problems pile up but nothing stops her from taking a quest to find her father.
The reason I chose this novel for December was because I actually thought it was a cute story of a young woman searching for her dad before she is getting married but reading half way into the book, a lot of real life issues come up and you really feel bad for this young lady, who's such a sweetheart. Issues such as the relationship with her mom, contemplation of finding one person to live with the rest of your life, and of course the need to know her father and why he left are all overwhelming and so many people these days can relate to these issues. It's so common these days to have a broken family and to question if love even exists anymore but in the end, Emma finds what she really needs to know and finally discovers who her father is.
The book overall is a great story and I love how the author relates every situation to the characters career meaning the situations the character faces are compared to laws and legal processes. It shows how the character thinks and why she comes to certain conclusions. I will say though I did not care for the ending. I didn’t expect it and I didnt think it was the right choice. But 90% of the rest of the book was a good read! I would have just preferred a doffferent ending.
