October IPSY

Tuesday, November 6, 2018

This month's IPSY had some hits and misses but overall I was pleased with the hits that I received because I have been anticipating some of the products! Let's review what my bag contained...

  • SL MISS GLAM | L50 Lilac Sparkle Eye Blender:

    • CLAIM: "Fluffy brush is fab for blending your crease colors. Synthetic fibers."

    • MY REVIEW: Honestly, this brush felt cheap. So cheap, I didn't bother using it. The bristles are hard and there's not many of them so I didn't think it would pick up much product.

  • THE BALM COSMETICS | Take Home the Bronze in Thomas:

    • CLAIM: "highly-pigmented, matte-finish bronzer."

    • MY REVIEW: This color is really nice and applies very smoothly! It's too little of a sample to try on your face so I use this sample to contour my nose or any precise areas.

  • GRACE & STELLA | BlackHead Removal Mask:

    • CLAIM: "This mask destroys blackheads, dead skin, and dirt, leaving you with a clearer, more radiant complexion. This stuff also helps minimize the appearance of pores."

    • MY REVIEW: I had high hopes for this mask since I am on a blackhead removal kick, as most people are. This mask applies well, dries quickly, but as I removed it, even though I could see gunk being pulled form my pores, the mask wasn't strong enough to completed remove and pull out the gunk, which was disheartening. I tried it twice, even applying as much as I could to really get a hold but no such luck. So this was a disappointment. It did feel refreshing and smelled good- like mint!

  • TARTE | Double Duty Beauty™ Shape Tape Contour Concealer:

    • CLAIM: "The matte-finish formula is blendable, buildable, and goes on smooth. Made with skin-nourishing ingredients like shea butter, mango seed butter, and licorice root extract."

    • MY REVIEW: I have been anticipating the use of this concealer for months now since everyone is raving about it. My only doubts was how cakey or full coverage it was since I'm more of a natural makeup gal who likes some coverage, but nothing super noticeable. I'm pleasantly surprised that I got this sample, and a generous size too (this travel size retails for $14). I have to say, I see what all the fuss is about. This concealer is amazing! It's definitely buildable, doesn't dry too fast, easy to blend, covers really well, and does not look cakey! Obvs if you put a bunch on it may not look natural but what's nice is it looks good even with a tiny bit on! And feels comfortable!

  • SO SUSAN | Color Trip High Intensity Color Pigment in Mysterious:

    • CLAIM: This loose shadow is made from concentrated, pulverized pigments and high-grade mica, which means insane color payoff."

    • MY REVIEW: I can't review this product since I didn't bother trying it. I do not like loose eyeshadows. i find them messy and hard to work with so i didn't even bother with this one.

OVERALL THOUGHTS: As with most Ipsy bags, there were some misses, some hits. I was really hoping the black mask would do wonders, but it was such a a let down. So was the brush (but I have a million brushes anyways lol). I think the concealer alone is worth the bag since you basically save $4 and that tiny bronzer is so convenient  for contouring my nose.
