In honor of her 30th birthday, one my my favorite actresses, Evan Rachel Wood (Thirteen, WestWorld), wrote an extensive article, reflecting on her 20's and giving 21 pieces of advice regarding love, sex, forgiveness, money, parenthood and everything in between! This article was sooooo inspiring and really touched on all the little things as well as the big picture of humanity. It was such a refreshing and honest read and here's the cliff notes:
Love & Loneliness: " I have learned that you are no good to anyone if you don’t take care of your mind, body, and spirit first, and that does not make you selfish; it’s essential for a healthy, happy state of mind."
Intuition: "If you are feeling drained of your life force, that’s a red flag. If you don’t know who you are anymore, that’s a red flag. If you constantly walk on eggshells and make yourself smaller to please someone else, that’s a red flag. If your self-worth is placed on another person’s opinion of you, that’s a red flag."
Success: " Success is a perfect storm. It’s a mixture of luck and skill... Be grateful for where you are at every moment. Sometimes the journey is the best part, and you don’t realize it till its over. "
Mentality: " Your thoughts shape your world, so make ’em good. Practice this every day. Eventually, you will retrain your mind. How you feel about yourself becomes your truth—period. So steer your thoughts in a positive direction, everything else will follow. "
Dreams: " Dream as much as you can. Everything starts off as a dream before it becomes reality. Don’t wait for opportunities to come to you. Make your own things. Believe in yourself. Sometimes you gotta be the one to make the move."
