One of my favorite characters on the new CW series Riverdale is played by Lili Reinhart, who is very beautiful, very talented. Lili plays Betty who is described as "A sweet, smart, eager-to-please and beautiful girl with a longtime crush on her best friend, Archie. She is tired of being the perfect daughter, student, sister, etc., so she turns to her new friend, Veronica, for life advice—much to the consternation of her emotionally brittle mother."
Lili honestly reminds me of Brittany Murphy. Very sweet and cute, a girl next door who is seeking adventure. In honor of Mental Health Awareness Mont, Lili took to twitter to share about how the hit show "saved" her: "Riverdale came into my life when I was going through the worst depression I had ever experienced. And in the end it completely saved me."
"When I'm feeling depressed or sad, I remind myself how far I've come. And how I didn't let my depression consume me." Lily goes on to encourage others and use her experience as hope: "Your mental health should be your priority. Don't forget that. This is your life...and you've only got one. So don't waste it by being sad."
I can really appreciate celebrities who use their social media as a platform to encourage and bring awareness. It' so easy for someone to be ridiculed for what they post especially celebrities whose honesty and personal experiences are at risk. She is relating to others and inspiring them to be strong. "You will get through whatever you're going through now. And you'll be so much stronger at the end of it. You're stronger than you know."
Riverdale is renewed for season 2 which Lili mentioned on her twitter and expressed gratitude for the continuation.
