DIY: Homemade Restroom Cleaner

Sunday, May 14, 2017

Most restroom cleaners contain bleach and other harsh chemicals, that can turn the bathroom into a hazardous environment for simply breathing while cleaning. Living with three cats, I am very conscious about their sensitive nose as well as the headaches I get from strong smells. For only a few dollars, you can mix together a safer cleaning solution that will clean your tub, sink, and bathroom tile without needing a mask and goggles while scrubbing.

Ingredients easily found in your kitchen could be very effective in cleaning- products you would've never guessed! My personal favorites are apple-cider vinegar and/or baking soda. Both of these products really help clean and whiten, especially in the bath tub. I do a deep clean of my bath tub once a month and I let vinegar soak in the tub for an hour and then scrub with dish soap.

You can also add drops of essential oils, especially teat tree, to help sanitize and add fresh aroma. Lavender is great for calming and lemon is not only a pleasant smell but very effective in sanitizing. Some use actual lemons on faucets to help make them clean and shiny.

Buying a spray bottle and mixing any of the ingredients mentioned is easy and cheap but very effective and healthy/safe for your home.
