Not to get confused with The Joseph Sisters (who like, Joseph, is a trio of sisters), Joseph is an American folk band, originated in Oregon and filled with mesmerizing vocals. Sisters Meegan, Natalie, and Allison have a vocal gift that enchants, almost like a mysterious mountain spring sound: clean, refreshing, and leaves an echo of truth and spirituality. Their harmony is not only unique but very captivating because of the organic lyrics and beats. Themes of strength, acceptance, and selflessness all draw a piece of you to feel their sorrow, achievements, and empowerment, almost all at once. Some songs make you feel fearless while other songs make you like you're nothing without that special someone. All in all, their music is crisp and addicting.
My biggest love for their current album I'm Alone, No You're Not is that the album features such a ray of alternative and pop melodies while keeping the same sort of genre- almost blending pop and alternative in a way you barely notice. Songs like "SOS" and "White Flag" are upbeat, catchy and very pop while "Canyon: and "Honest" are very much alternative. Either way all songs are contemporary folk.
My favorite songs from the album are "Whirlwind" and "I Don't Mind". "Whirlwind" has beautiful harmony, amazing echo and is a sweet cry of addiction to love. "I Don't Mind" is very similar but is more of a sorrowful tone, yet very sweet and almost an ode to a relationship.
I first heard this album on my roadtrip from Santa Barbara and driving along the coast to this album was so peaceful. These sisters really cast a spell- a very Stevie Nicks type of feel, specifically Gold Dust Woman, Silver Springs, and Sisters of The Moon.
