I seriously thought I had already blogged about twenty one pilots but I appear to be mistaken so here it is, my ode to T.O.P...
First off, I heard snippets of "Ride" on the radio about 10 times, every time, quickly changing the station thinking this music sucks. I also spotted them on Tumblr a lot, knowing their fan base was growing big and awe how cute Josh looks blah blah blah. Then one day I heard Blurryface on the radio, specifically the bridge and how beautiful Tyler's voice is and I had to hear that song over and over. When I heard Blurryface is when my fascination with twenty one pilots started and kinda spiraled.
I started to slowly listen to a lot of twenty one pilots and before I knew it, I loved just about every song on the Blurryface album. I saw the last 5 songs that i had never heard but because I like the first handful, I figured why not just buy the whole album. I ended up loving every single song except "tear in my Heart" (remind me of high school- too pop teen for me). It's very interesting how the album is a mix of emotions- lyrics- themes- genres- and overall style. You have some very upbeat teenage songs, some dark songs, some hardcore music, and every song of course has a variety of genre's within the song- pop, rock, rap, reggae, and so on. The fact that this band is only compromised of two members, it's genre is various, and it can relate to a range of ages and music tastes validates the insane popularity this band has gained. And also the band members are very attractive (Josh being the silly bad boy drummer, Tyler as the scrawny but adorable daredevil).
So I buy the album and listen to it over and over for months. Then I start to watch Youtube videos of their interviews, music videos, and live concerts. Their live concerts look CRAZY FUN. I was so bummed their concerts sold out and will always regret not seeing them live at this moment when their music is just fresh and obsessively good.
Let me finish by sharing my top favorite songs from Blurryface, though there are songs from other twenty one pilots records I enjoy. My favorite ever is HeavyDirtySoul (fast and catchy, easy to rock out to), Hometown (makes me want to party all the time), and Message Man (makes me feel like a badass). Every song on the album is great in it's own way, truly. I find these three songs are the most enjoyable!!
